When uploading a release, you can assign different roles to performing artists. These roles determine how the release is displayed on artist pages, which metrics are attributed to each artist, and what access they have to analytics.
Primary Artist
Primary artists are the main performing artist(s) on a release. They can be listed either on the album level or the track level.
Album Level Primary Artist
- The release appears in the main discography of each primary artist’s page.
- All listeners for the release contribute to each artist’s Monthly Listeners total.
- Each artist has access to detailed analytics for the release in their artist portal (Spotify for Artists, Apple Music for Artists, etc.).
- Releases with four or more primary artists will display as Various Artists. These releases appear in each artist’s Appears On section instead of their main discography.

- Input the primary artist.
- If you have already set up your artist name in the Preferences of your account, you can click Select Artist next to the artist name. Otherwise, click Create Artist.

- In the Basic Information section, input additional primary artists on the album level.
