What Is a Royalty Split?
A royalty split determines the percentage of royalties each collaborator receives for a specific song. This includes artists, songwriters, producers, managers, labels, and other rights holders. Too Lost makes managing royalty splits simple and automatic, ensuring that everyone gets paid fairly.
How Royalty Splits Work
When you create a royalty split, the system automatically calculates and distributes royalties to each payee according to the percentages you assign. Each recipient must have a Too Lost account. If they don’t already have one, they can sign up for a free Collaborator account here.
How to Set Up a Royalty Split
- Log in to your Too Lost account and select Royalty Splits.
- Click New Royalty Split and choose the track you want to assign a split to.
- Add each payee’s email address and the percentage of royalties they should receive. You can add as many payees as needed.
- Ensure that the total percentages add up to 100%.
- Press Submit to finalize the split.
Important Notes
- If a payee does not have a Too Lost account, they will receive an email notifying them to create one to receive payments.
- If the payee already has an account, the split will only connect to their account if the correct email address is entered.
- If you have separate uploads of the same track with the same ISRC, the royalty split will need to be added to both uploads.
