Pre-Orders
A Pre-Order allows listeners to purchase your release prior to release day. Once the release date arrives, the release automatically appears in their library.
Pre-Orders can be set up for Apple iTunes, Amazon, and Beatport.
How to Set Up a Pre-Order
- In the Uploader, go to the Release Information section.
- Scroll down to Pre-Order Date.
- Select the date you’d like your release to become available for pre-order.
Setting up a Pre-Order is a great way to generate early sales, build momentum, and engage your fans ahead of release day.
Pre-Saves
A Pre-Save is a promotional tool that lets you build excitement for an upcoming release before it officially drops. Similar to a pre-order, it allows fans to engage with your release early, but instead of purchasing, the release is automatically “saved” to their library once it becomes available.
On Spotify, a Pre-Save campaign allows your fans to:
- Automatically add your upcoming single or album to their Spotify library on release day.
- Automatically follow your artist profile or a selected playlist.
- Optionally add the release to a new or existing playlist.
This makes it easier for your audience to stay connected and ensures your release is front and center when it goes live.
Pre-Save links are automatically created for your release and included in your Release Links.
Pre-Adds
A Pre-Add works just like a Pre-save, but it’s specific to Apple Music. This feature lets fans add your upcoming release to their Apple Music library before it’s available. In some cases, they can even listen to select tracks that you’ve made available ahead of time through iTunes Instant Gratification.
Pre-Adds give you a longer promotional window to market your music and encourage fan engagement before release day. Just like with Pre-Saves, this early activity helps boost your visibility and can increase your first-day stream counts when your release officially drops.
Similar to Pre-Saves, your Pre-Add link is automatically created for your release and included in your Release Links.
If you’d like to offer fans early access to specific tracks before your full release goes live in iTunes, you can set up Instant Gratification.
