Chart Registration through Too Lost ensures your music is properly tracked by Luminate and Mediabase, the two primary U.S. industry-standard systems that collect data for Billboard and other major music charts. By registering your releases, you make them eligible for official Billboard chart placement and ensure accurate tracking of your streams, sales, and radio airplay.
Too Lost offers Chart Registration at no additional cost as part of all Artist and Label plans. To ensure your music is fully registered and eligible for chart tracking and certification, we take care of:
- Registering your ISRC and UPC
- Encoding and submitting your release data to both Luminate and Mediabase
To get started, navigate to the Chart Registration tab in your Too Lost account.
Luminate
Luminate (formerly known as MRC Data/Nielsen Music) aggregates music consumption data from all major streaming platforms (DSPs), more than 2,000 radio stations, and over 550 retail providers. It is the core data source for the Billboard charts, meaning your music must be registered with Luminate to appear on any Billboard rankings.
Mediabase
Mediabase monitors radio airplay across 180 U.S. and Canadian markets, covering both terrestrial and satellite stations. It compiles airplay charts based on weighted spins and provides detailed analytics to radio and music industry professionals. Mediabase data is also used for radio countdowns, award shows, and chart reporting.
Physical Releases (CDs, Vinyl, etc.)
If you are also distributing physical formats, use the same UPC and metadata (artist name, song titles, ISRCs) as your Too Lost digital releases. This ensures all your sales and streaming data are tracked together across platforms.
