By following the steps below, you can easily proceed with a catalog transfer from another distributor, such as Distrokid, Tunecore, CD Baby, etc and maintain your current stream counts.
Too Lost offers a "Transfer In" functionality, available here: https://www.toolost.com/user-portal/releases/manage/transfer
Please note, this tool only works if the release is already live on Spotify.
See below for instructions on utilizing this function:
1. Search for your artist profile on Spotify
2. Select the releases to transfer. You can transfer multiple releases at once. The selected release will be duplicated into your Releases.
3. Edit your release. The only required information you will need to manually add is the original audio file and the genre. That said, make sure to double check artist roles, writer information, lyrics and other information that may have not transferred in.
If you do not want to use our Transfer In function, we recommend following the next steps:
1. Create a Release on Too Lost
- Create each release in Too Lost exactly as it appears on other platforms (same metadata, ISRC, and artwork). This ensures consistency and minimizes the risk of duplication issues.
2. Wait for Releases to Duplicate on Streaming Platforms
- After creating the release in Too Lost, it will be distributed to stores. You may temporarily see duplicate versions as Too Lost’s version is published alongside your previous distributor’s version.
3. Wait for Streams to Merge
- Stores like Spotify and Apple Music will merge the streams, playlists, and data from the original release with your Too Lost release automatically. This process can take a few days, depending on the platform.
4. Request Takedown from Your Previous Distributor
-
- Once the Too Lost version is live on stores and services, request that your previous distributor takes down the original release. This will prevent duplicates and ensure the Too Lost release is the only active version.
- Please note that even if the release has a “Live” status, the content may still not be available yet, as each store/platform has their own ingestion policies. We recommend checking out this support article for more information on this. Your release link will be a "stream now / buy now" link when in the "Live" status.
