What Is Motion Artwork?
Apple Music Motion Artwork is animated artwork that creates an engaging, dynamic visual experience for Apple Music listeners. Motion Art consists of two video files in different aspect ratios for each release:
- 1:1 - displayed on desktop, tablets, and smart TVs.
- 3:4 - displayed on mobile.
Motion Artwork File Format Specifications
Make sure both files meet the following technical requirements, as any files that don’t comply will fail to upload and/or be rejected.
- Video codec: H.264, Apple ProRes 422, or Apple ProRes 4444 (.mov)

Resolutions:
- 3840 × 3840 (1:1)
- 2048 × 2732 (3:4)
- Frame rate: 23.976, 24, 25, 29.97, or 30 FPS
- Color space: Rec 709 or sRGB
- Duration: 8-35 seconds
- Audio: No audio

Important
- Too Lost validates each video’s duration, frame rate, codec, and color space
- Motion Art goes live on the Release Date (or Pre-Order Date, if applicable)
- Once delivered to Apple Music, Motion Art cannot be removed
Limitations
- Motion Art cannot be added to music video releases
- Motion Art for artist profiles cannot be delivered through Too Lost
How to Update Motion Artwork
